South Birmingham Network
The South Birmingham Network consists of:
- Harborne & Edgbaston u3a (H&E)
- Kings Norton & District u3a (KN)
- Moseley & Kings Heath u3a (MKHD)
Member u3as work together whenever possible to increase the benefits available to individual u3a members.
We have agreed that if interest groups have vacancies these will be made available to members of the other network u3as.
If you wish to join an interest group in any of the network u3as other than your own u3a you should first check on the website of the other network u3a to see if they have vacancies. If they have, please contact the interest group coordinator/ Group secretary of that u3a using the following link to confirm there is a vacancy.
For Harborne & Edgbaston u3a contact the Groups Secretary on the H&E u3a website
For Kings Norton u3a contact the KNu3a Groups Coordinator
For Moseley & Kings Heath u3a contact Interest Group enquiries
The coordinator/secretary will then ask you to fill in a Network Membership Application form for their u3a, which can be downloaded from their website. You do not have to pay an extra subscription for Network Membership. On the form you will need to enter which u3a you are a full paid-up member of together with your membership number, as well as giving your name, address and contact details. You will then need to email or post the form to the Membership Secretary of that u3a who will input your details to their Beacon system. They will also pass on your details to the group leader who will contact you directly.
If you do join an interest group in a network u3a other than your own you will be required to pay whatever fee that interest group charges its members for venue hire etc.
For members of Moseley and Kings Heath u3a, clarification about whether they need to become Network Members of another u3a and how they should go about it is given in this document about Network Membership here
In Moseley & Kings Heath (MKHD) u3a, a Network Member is a paid-up member of one of the other South Birmingham Network u3as (Kings Norton or Harborne & Edgbaston) and not a paid-up member of Moseley & Kings Heath u3a. Network Members can join MKHD groups (but when filling vacancies precedence will be given to MKHD paid-up members), can attend MKHD monthly meetings (but if there is insufficient space in the room precedence will be given to MKHD paid-up members) and will receive MKHD newsletters (but not u3a Matters which is funded and provided via their home u3a).
